Tony Smith
MEA Secretary
Tony Smith is a U.S. Air Force (USAF) veteran who served
on active duty from April 1990 to December 1995 as a
signals intelligence analyst. After being honorably
discharged from the USAF, Tony began a career in telecommunications
and information technology. Tony has maintained an active
role in the non-profit community. As an openly gay veteran,
he has served on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan
Community Church of Washington D.C. (MCCDC) as well
as many other lay ministry roles. He currently serves
as the Military Support Services Ministry Leader for
the MCCDC Congregation. Tony also volunteers his professional
skills to support other non-profit organizations with
reduced fee management consulting.
Additionally, Tony has been supportive of both the
LGBT active duty and veteran communities and related
volunteer events over many years. He has served previous
terms as AVER DC Chapter President. He co-chaired AVER's
National Convention in Washington, DC in 2004. Tony
currently serves as the AVER Region II Vice President,
Military Community Services Network (MCSN) Executive
Director, and Advisory Board Member for Military Education
Initiative (MEI).
