John
Graff became active in the fight equality in the military
when he was honorably discharged from the Navy that
he loved so much after having come out to his commanding
officer. John was 9 months into his active duty career
stationed at Naval Submarine Base New London in
Groton, CT training to be a sonar technician. John's
discharge made national headlines and his story appeared
on network news, Good Morning America and The Washington
Post.
Prior to enlisting in the Navy, John worked on several
campaigns ranging from Congressional to Presidential
working mostly in field organizing. His work took him
around the country to states like Iowa, Massachusetts
and New Hampshire. John has attended numerous campaign
and organizing trainings including trainings by the
AFL-CIO, Democratic GAIN, Grassroots Campaigns Inc.
and the NYS Democratic Party.
Although a native New Yorker and vocally proud of
it John currently
lives in Alexandria, VA and works for the Democratic
National
Committee in Washington, DC
