Michael Haas
Mike
Haas is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, having spent
his 20 active duty years in the Infantry, Transportation
Corps (in Vietnam, June 1969-June 1970), Military Police
Corps (commander of the 504th MP Company at Ft. Eustis)
and the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Mike was
born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where his
father began a dental practice after World War II. Mike
has an undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University,
a law degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh,
a Master’s in Education from Old Dominion University
in Norfolk, Virginia and a Graduate Certificate in Museum
Studies from New York University.
Mike presently is a part-time faculty member at the
University of North Carolina, Wilmington, teaching American
Government and Constitutional Criminal Procedure. He
and his wife Ruth, who is Director of the Cape Fear
Museum, live in Wilmington, North Carolina, and have
two grown children.
