Ed Urbaniak

Ed Urbaniak joined the Army at age 17 under the delayed entry program. After his graduation from High School, Ed started his enlisted basic training at Ft. Sill, OK. While attending basic training, his drill sergeants noticed Ed’s leadership abilities and intelligence and recommended him for the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS--a gateway to West Point). Ed attended USMAPS and received an appointment to West Point.

After graduating from West Point in May of 1989, Ed was commissioned as an Armor officer. In 1992, Ed left active duty with an honorable discharge as the Army reduced its numbers after the first gulf war. Ed was promoted to Captain during his service in the Inactive Ready Reserve.

Ed was the chair for the Service Academy Gay and Lesbian Alumni (SAGALA) from 2001 to 2005. Ed currently resides in Northern, VA with his partner Erwin Lobo and their son Leon. Ed is a Realtor with Weichert, Realtors. When not working, Ed spends time working on his home, traveling and other family activities.
